AW11605   Albatros D.III
The Albatros D.III first appeared over the front in January 1917. Sleek in design and armed with twin Spandau machine guns, the D.III quickly gained air control over the western front. Dubbed the " Vee strutter"   by British airman, the D.III would soon make history for the german air force in the month of April.  It would later become known as Bloody April by the British pilots due to the high number of losses they encountered.
